Frequently Asked Questions

Q: Do I need a visa?

A: Most European, UK, and Commonwealth citizens can enter visa-free for up to 30 days. US citizens typically require an E-Visa, which can be obtained online in 3-5 working days.

Q: Is it safe to travel there?

A: Very. Uzbekistan is one of the safest destinations in Central Asia. Violent crime is extremely rare, and there is a high presence of friendly “Tourist Police” to assist visitors.

Q: What is the best way to get between cities?

A: The Afrosiyob high-speed train is the best option. It connects Tashkent, Samarkand, and Bukhara in just a few hours. We recommend booking tickets at least 4–6 weeks in advance as they sell out quickly.

Q: Can I use my credit card?

A: Only in high-end hotels and some restaurants. Uzbekistan is still a cash-heavy society. You should carry US Dollars (clean, unwrinkled bills) to exchange for local Uzbek Som at banks or exchange booths.

Q: Is there a strict dress code?

A: No. Uzbekistan is a secular country. However, when visiting mosques or holy sites, both men and women should cover their shoulders and knees. Women do not need to wear a headscarf in public, only inside specific active mosques.

Q: Can I drink the tap water?

A: It is not recommended. Stick to bottled or filtered water, which is provided at all hotels and available at every corner shop.

Q: What is the local food like?

A: It is hearty and delicious! The staple dish is Plov (rice, meat, and carrots). Expect lots of fresh bread (non), grilled kebabs (shashlik), and incredible seasonal fruits.

Q: Will I have Wi-Fi?

A: Yes, hotels and most cafes offer free Wi-Fi. For constant access, we can help you get a local SIM card upon arrival for roughly $5–$10 USD.
