Your sadventure of a lifetime in Uzbekistan begins in Tashkent. Our team will greet you on arrival and arrange a transfer to your hotel. After breakfast, you’ll set off for the first sights of Uzbekistan’s capital! You’ll make your way to Theatre Square, then to Independence Square and Amir Timur Square. In the afternoon, you’ll explore the Chorsu Market, once one of the city’s most important bazaars. Today, it has become a bustling hub where locals come to do their shopping. Late afternoon, you’ll discover the Tashkent metro, renowned for its artistic decorations and unique stations. Dinner and overnight stay at the hotel.

In the morning, you’ll board a flight to Urgench in the north of the country, followed by a transfer to Khiva (30 km). Once you’ve settled into your hotel, you’ll head off on a tour of the city. A UNESCO World Heritage Site, Khiva is an extraordinary city, not least for its inner fortress the Itchan Kala. Here you’ll marvel at other architectural wonders, such as the Juma Mosque, the Kunya Ark Citadel and a host of other magnificent monuments. You’ll also visit the Pakhlavan Makhmud Mausoleum, a legendary wrestler, furrier, and poet who is buried here. Dinner in the city. In the evening, enjoy an evening stroll through the city’s light-filled alleys. Overnight stay at the hotel.

Today, after breakfast, you’ll continue your tour of Khiva. Among other sights, your guide will lead you to Toshhovli Palace (‘Stone Palace’), adorned with circular brick plinths called iwans. Its northerly orientation provides a certain degree of coolness, perfect for escaping scorching summer temperatures. You’ll then have some free time to wander around the city and enjoy lunch in a traditional chaikhana. You’ll meet up with your guide at the end of the day to head to the train station, where you’ll catch the evening train to Bukhara. Picnic dinner on board the train, arrival in Bukhara at midnight. Overnight stay at the hotel.

With its remarkable heritage from the legendary Silk Road, Bukhara is the perfect embodiment of an oriental city. Your guide will take you to the magnificent Lab-i Hauz (‘By the Pool’) ensemble, renowned for its vast pond. Afterwards, you’ll head for the old Jewish quarter, a must-see in the noble city of Bukhara, followed by other remarkable monuments. Later in the day, you can enjoy a traditional hammam initiation ahead of the start of your sporting adventure scheduled for the sixth day of your trip in Uzbekistan. Free time for dinner and overnight stay at the hotel.

This second day in Bukhara involves exploring the city’s treasures, including the Ark, once a royal city and fortress from the 7th to the early 20th century. You’ll then head to the Bukhara market, home to huge spice stalls, before discovering the extraordinary Ismail Samani Mausoleum, built in the 10th century. This remarkable construction inspired several architects in the Muslim world over the centuries. You’ll enjoy free time in the afternoon to wander through the city’s picturesque shopping alleys. Later on, you’ll prepare your bike for the following day. Free time for dinner and overnight stay at the hotel.

Your first day of biking on Uzbek roads begins here! Setting off directly from your hotel, you’ll ride through the districts of old Bukhara and past Chor Minor (also known as Madrasah of Khalif Niyaz-kul). You’re sure to be awestruck by the sheer beauty of this building. You’ll gently wind your way through the city before exiting the urban area and heading for the region’s agricultural heartland. Not only will you pass through beautiful landscapes of grape vines and other crops, you’ll also meet Uzbeks, curious to learn more about your biking adventure. Lunch will be enjoyed en route, and you’ll arrive at your local host’s home by the end of the day. Once settled in, you’ll get a glimpse into the daily life of your hosts, with opportunities for exchanges and discussions facilitated by your guide. This day, full of enriching discoveries, will end with a typical Uzbek dinner.  Overnight stay at your host’s home.

After breakfast, you’ll set off directly from your host’s home for this second day of biking in Uzbekistan. The route will first take you through lowland villages before leading you into the vast landscapes of the steppes. Along the way, you’ll catch glimpses of medium and high mountains and enjoy a picnic amidst the steppes. Later, your route will wind through small hills, bringing you once again into the heart of the steppe landscapes. Once your biking journey complete, a vehicle will drive you to the yurt camp, located in the middle of the desert. Dinner and overnight stay in a yurt, an unforgettable experience that is sure to be one of the highlights of your adventure in Uzbekistan.

In the morning, you’ll set off for the Kyzylkum Desert, passing through several villages inhabited by Kazakhs. Along the way, you’ll be able to admire the local flora and fauna before reaching the shore of the impressive Aydar Lake. Covering about 250 km long and 15 km wide, this lake is the perfect setting for birdwatching, especially when it comes to migratory species. You can even take a dip in the brackish water if you like! Enjoy lunch on site. The next part of the journey will be more challenging, as you cycle approximately 17 km through the desert and the steppes. At the end of your ride, you’ll be driven to Sob, a mountain village. Dinner and overnight stay at your host’s home.

Your new day of Uzbek biking adventure will start bright and early. After a hearty breakfast, you’ll first cycle through the village and gradually take a track leading you towards the Nuratau Mountains. This trail will be the most challenging of your journey and will frequently require you to push your bike. The effort will be well worth it, as you’ll be rewarded with a stunning panorama of Aydar Lake once you reach the summit. You’ll continue your journey on scenic mountain paths to reach Fazilman Lake, located at an altitude of 1,645 metres. Your day will end with a pleasant descent through rocky landscapes. You’ll arrive at a mountain village, where you’ll enjoy dinner and spend the night under the stars in a tent set up in the courtyard of a local home.

The adventure continues on this 10th day of your journey across Uzbekistan! After breakfast, you’ll hop on your bike and cycle along the trails connecting a number of villages, where you’ll have the chance to chat with the locals. You’ll then join an asphalt road and pedal for another ten or so kilometres through more charming Uzbek villages. Your route, winding through a magnificent mountain landscape, will lead you to the village of Pangat. This is where your biking adventure ends, and your vehicle awaits to head back to Samarkand (160 km). On arrival, you’ll check into a charming hotel in the heart of the old town. You’ll have time for enjoy a wander around and a free evening for dinner. Overnight stay at the hotel.

After your incredible biking adventure, it’s time to discover the historical heritage of the city of Samarkand. From your hotel, you’ll head to the famous Registan Square, home to three majestic madrasahs. Next, you’ll take a leisurely stroll along the pedestrian street and arrive at the grand Bibi–Khanum Mosque. After visiting this impressive monument, you’ll continue your exploration with a walk through the Siyob Market, where you’ll find an array of dried fruits and spices. Your exploration of Samarkand continues with the Shah-i-Zinda Necropolis, a unique architectural ensemble in Central Asia. The day will end with a stunning sunset over the domes of this exceptional historical site. Free time for dinner and overnight stay at the hotel.

Last day of your trip in Uzbekistan! Another day to explore the many wonders of Samarkand, and in particular the sites around the city. Your first destination will be the Ulugbek Observatory, which bears witness to the scientific advances of the 15th century, followed by the Afrosiyob Museum and the village of Konigil. The visit will end with the Guri Amir Mausoleum, the final resting place of Amir Timour, where you can marvel at the magnificent architecture, in particular the turquoise-blue dome. You will take a train to Tashkent late afternoon. Free time for dinner on arrival. Overnight stay at the hotel.
